2 Million Bikers Heading North on 9-11

Late last night I heard the Stafford VA Sheriff’s dept planned to block off I-95 for about 15 minutes to let the bikers get underway about 7 am this morning. Here’s a video showing them getting starting out toward DC this morning –

I encourage you to check this post and I’d like to hear your thoughts — I ask the question about whether 2 million bikers could help bring this divided country back together – http://wp.me/p2TJed-jS

This is a great summary video –

Millions of bikers from around the country roared into the D.C. area on Wednesday in a show of support for Sept. 11 victims and in solidarity against a controversial Muslim rally on the Mall.

The 2 Million Bikers to DC ride might have fallen short of 2 million strong, but the numbers were impressive. A line of shining chrome and steel bikes stretched about a third of a mile from the starting point at the Harley Davidson of Washington store just outside the District in Prince George’s County.
The bikers began departing from the store at about 10:30 in staggered groups of 50, stopped for traffic lights and taking an hour or so to get on the road.

The ride was complicated by the fact that federal and local authorities denied a permit that would have offered the riders a police escort through traffic — a sore spot with organizers who thought the denial was for political purposes.

“We’re here for 9-11,” said national ride coordinator Belinda Bee. “We are going to have a peaceful ride. … But there are people who are sick and tired of their rights and liberties being taken away.”

The National Park Service has denied any political motivation for refusing the permit, which ride organizers sought last month. The Park Service earlier this year granted a permit to a Muslim group planning a rally Wednesday to call attention to social justice issues.

The American Muslim Political Action Committee has scheduled a rally to draw attention to what they call unfair fear of Muslims after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

2 Million Bikers – Bringing Together a Divided Country?

In a country that has been so divided on so many topics over the last 4 1/2 years — it does a heart good to see the way people are reacting to the bikers heading to DC.

It feels good to see all the bikers riding to DC from all over the country. On a regular day – they would have different loyalties and different purposes. They come from many different backgrounds, experiences, and thoughts – but on this day – the 12th anniversary of the attack on 9-11-2001 and the 1st anniversary of the attack in Benghazi, they are coming together to show their support and solidarity. They are riding side by side – to show they love this country.

There are a lot of people who are sick of seeing the things that make this country great – being tossed to the side. And seeing people who hate America – trying to take control away and trying to change the country is very substantial ways.

The idea of the Million Muslim March seems like it was a trigger that got this movement started – and even the name change to a Million Americans Against Fear hasn’t changed the determination of the people who are riding into the nation’s capital tonight.

I remember when I initially heard the details for the Million Muslim March on 9-11 and how angry it made me. Then when I heard an interview with one organizers who refused to even acknowledge that having this march on 9-11 would be very offensive to many Americans. His concern was that he felt Muslims had been treated badly since 9-11 and he also seems to be a very opinionated 9-11 Truther. This is the same man who insisted on knowing why no Jews died on 9-11. I don’t know if anyone of Jewish heritage or religion died on 9-11 or not — but the fact that he would ask that question is offensive to me.

If any group wants to be treated “better” or with respect in a country where they chose to move and live – it seems to me that insulting the citizens is not the way to make things better. It wouldn’t have hurt him to say something like –

We understand how deeply people were hurt by the events of that day. People of all nationalities died on that horrible day. Extremists attacked the US on their home ground and thousands of people died. We understand the American people will have a hard time ever feeling truly safe again – this is a fear and concern we can relate to and we feel empathy for this pain. We should all work together to weed out extremists who want to destroy America and to protect our home for each and every one of us.

Okay – maybe that’s too much to expect from MD Rabbi Alam, but this is a video of his interview on Hannity. See what you think — did he do anything to help his supposed cause? I can tell you that I watched this interview and I checked their website at the beginning of the show and again at the end – and they changed their website as the interview was going on. I posted some screenshots on here earlier. I wish I’d taken more screenshots but I was fuming during the interview.

and a very spirited debate with Judge Jeanine – don’t you just love Judge Jeanine
