Parallels Between Obama and Putin

Does anyone else see a faint parallel between the actions of Putin and Obama??

This breaking news alert came in this morning —

Russian President Vladimir Putin says there has been an anti-constitutional coup in Ukraine and that ousted President Viktor Yanukovych is the country’s only legitimate leader. He says Russia reserves the right to use all means to protect Russians in Ukraine.

More on this story

Think back about how the Obama administration, other Democratic politicians and the media have talked about the Tea Party, Republican and Conservatives who have PEACEFULLY protested actions of this administration.

Does the term Astroturf ring a bell?

How about calling “patriots” – terrorists?

There are many many more examples – but this parallel just seemed interesting to me this morning.

Another Example —

Do either of these comments remind you of something one of us may say about Obama —- I added the bold purple to highlight the parts that jumped off the page at me…

President Barack Obama said today there is a “strong belief” that Russia’s actions in Ukraine violate international law. “President Putin seems to have a different set of lawyers making a different set of interpretations, but I don’t think that’s fooling anybody,” Obama said.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, speaking in Kiev, said Russia had made up reasons to intervene in Ukraine, saying “not a single piece of credible evidence supports any one of these (Russian) claims.” He added that “Russia has been working hard to create a pretext to invade further” in Ukraine.

Both are power hungry and sidestep laws and agreements wherever they can. I think it’s a shame that our leader is seen as so spineless, but perhaps his fear is keeping him from getting us involved where we shouldn’t be. I don’t think he can blame Fox news for this one. 🙂

  2. Obama definitely is seen as spineless. I was listening to Kerry’s news conference this morning and he sounded much stronger than anything Obama said. But that also gives Obama the “out” if something goes wrong – HE didn’t say we would do anything. Its really sad when so much of an administration’s strategy is built around shielding the president to the point where he is viewed as spineless and an out of touch idiot. But they have been doing things that way from day one and it hasn’t helped the country or Obama in any meaningful way.

Interesting parallels. I hadn’t thought about it that way. I agree, they are both power hungry and, in their own way, ruthless. Putin comes across as strong; Obama comes across as weak. Underneath, I don’t think either one of them cares about anyone but themselves.

  4. I hadn’t thought about it like that till today and hearing what Kerry and Obama said about Putin – just clicked. Agreed neither of them really care about anyone else and it shows.

From all appearances, it looks as if Putin wants to be a Czar…He thinks he can be a new Peter the Great. The only good thing I can say about Putin is that he loves his country. Unfortunately, I can’t say that about Obama. But Obama is such a weakling that he is making this nation the laughing stock of the world. He has to go and go now!
